Holden Beach, N.C. — The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour headed to Lockwood Folly Country Club for the 2024 Bash at the Beach Girls Classic.
Heading into Sunday’s final round it was anyone’s tournament to win in the Prep Preview division. Akiera Sanchez (Goose Creek, SC 2025) and Kennedy Gallentine (Iron Station, NC 2029) shared the lead following their opening round’s of 77 (+5) but eight competitors stood within 6 shots of their lead. On Sunday, Landry Hamm (Charlotte, NC 2027) made an early move up the leaderboard by playing her front nine in 37 (+2) while the leaders struggled to maintain their momentum. Sanchez would turn it around on the back nine and shot a closing round of 79 (+7) ultimately tying with Hamm with a score of 156 (+12) for the two days. In the sudden death playoff, Hamm would claim the title with a par on the first playoff hole for her first victory at the National Series level!
2024 Bash at the Beach Prep Preview Medalists
Three players finished in a tie for third in the Prep Preview division: Gallentine, Kami Caraccia (Mooresville, NC 2027), & Emery Lewis (Stokesdale, NC 2027). Lewis’ Sunday round was tied for the best in the division over the weekend, a 76 (+4) including an even par back nine. Caraccia carded a final round 79 (+7) to move onto the podium.
In the Futures National division, Annabelle Scott (Lillington, NC 2027) impressed with an opening round of 75 (+3) that included four birdies! She held a three shot 18-hole lead over Alaina Carson (Broomall, PA 2028) and Hadley Elvington (Leland, NC 2031). Scott started Sunday’s round with two birdies in her first two holes but failed to keep that momentum for the remainder of the round, eventually shooting a final round 82 (+10). The day would belong to Carson who fired the round of the tournament: a two-over par 72 to complete the come from behind victory. Carson made two birdies and 13 pars in her final round, the low round of the weekend in both divisions!
2024 Bash at the Beach Futures National Medalists
Scott would finish the weekend in solo second place with Susan Davis (Wilmington, NC 2028) one shot behind her in third place. Davis bettered her first round score by six strokes to move up the leaderboard. Rounding out the medalists was Elvington who shot a closing round of 83 (+11) to secure the medalist honors.
