Recap: The 15th PKBGT Invitational

Bermuda Run, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour traveled to Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, NC to play the final round of the 15th PKBGT Invitational.

It was another beautiful day for the final round of the 15th PKBGT Invitational. Play began with a shotgun start at 10:00 AM and players were ready to put their final stamps on this year’s Invitational! Macie Rasmussen (Chesapeake, VA 2027) entered the day with a five stroke lead and picked up right where she left off with a birdie on the first, signaling to her competitors they would have to come catch her.

Playing alongside Rasmussen, Riley Grimm (Pinehurst, NC 2028) got off to a quick start with five birdies in her first 10 holes. Sarah Lydic  (Ocean View, DE 2024) made a charge of her own playing her first nine in four-under par but stumbled down the stretch and finished tied for fourth. Grimm pulled within one of the Rasmussen lead with a birdie on the 13th hole but Rasmussen responded with a birdie on the 14th while Grimm bogeyed. The two-shot swing was all the cushion Rasmussen would need but she still would add another birdie for good measure on the 17th hole allowing her to comfortably play the 18th hole and seal the victory. Rasmussen’s round of even par secured not just the Invitational trophy but the new scoring record (-6) as well breaking the previous mark of -5 set by Katie Kirk (2010) and Sara Im (2020).

Floridian Hannah Hall (Rockledge, FL 2026) played well all weekend and tied Grimm for second at even par. Ellen Yu (Greensboro, NC 2025) made six birdies on Monday to finish at 217 (+1) and in a tie for fourth for the event. The shot of the weekend belonged to Kallyn Black (Greensboro, GA 2026) who aced the par-3 3rd on her final hole of the tournament!

1. Macie Rasmussen (Chesapeake, VA 2027) / 65 + 73 + 72 = 210 (-6)

T2. Riley Grimm (Pinehurst, NC 2028) / 72 + 72 +72 = 216 (E)

T2. Hannah Hall (Rockledge, FL 2026) / 70 + 73 + 73 = 216 (E)

T4. Sarah Lydic  (Ocean View, DE 2024) / 69 + 77 + 71 = 217 (+1)

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
