Reston, V.A. — The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour started their 2024 National Series season in style at the Middle Atlantic Girls Classic hosted at Hidden Creek Country Club.
Just like that, the 2024 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour season is underway! 46 players headed to Hidden Creek Country Club for the season kick-off, Middle Atlantic Girls Classic! Bell National and Futures National players battled the weather on Saturday setting up a photo-finish Sunday final round!
Bell National
Zoe Cusack (Potomac, MD 2026) opened with the round of the weekend, a two-under 70, and held a three shot lead entering the final round. Plenty of spoilers sat within striking distance and Kate Roberts (Phoenixville, PA 2024) took advantage. Carter Bransford (Glen Allen, VA 2026) and Reagan Garnsey (Camden-Wyoming, DE 2025)combined for four front nine birdies on Sunday to catch Cusack and hold the lead. Roberts started the day three off the lead and stood on the tenth tee two strokes behind Bransford and Garnsey. From there, Roberts was flawless. She parred holes 10-17 and headed to the final hole tied for the lead. On 18, Roberts made birdie to grab the solo lead and win the season opener.

Futures National
Katherine Yun (Ashburn, VA 2028) and Claire Son (Urbana, MD 2027) set the pace in the Futures National division Saturday. Both players opened the event with rounds of 73 to share the overnight lead but Karoline Sweet (Moseley, VA 2028) woke up on Sunday on fire! Sweet birdied four of her opening eight holes and made the turn in 2-under holding the Futures National lead. She added birdies on the 10th and 16th hole and signed for 1-under par 71 to complete her come from behind victory. Son birded the final hole of the day to break the tie with Yun and secure a solo second place finish.

Congratulations to the Middle Atlantic Girls Classic champions and all our medalists from Hidden Creek Country Club! We would like to thank the staff at Hidden Creek for their incredible hospitality over the weekend and keeping the course in great shape! The course provided a great test for all our players and created an exciting final round to crown our champions and kick-off the 2024 National season!

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina. The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls.
