Greensboro, NC – On Saturday, August 6th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played a round in the Middle Atlantic Series at Belmont Golf Course in Lakeside, VA.
Belmont Golf Course provided the perfect setting for the players to get in a challenging round of golf and tee times were set to commence at 11:06 A.M. off of Hole #1. Players arrived at the practice facilities eager to get the round started and potentially take home the winning hardware.
At the end of the day, three girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division in the PKBGT Middle Atlantic Series at Belmont Golf Course.
Prep Series
Grace Saunders (Springfield, VA 2024) scored a birdie on her first two holes of the day on her way to first. Saunders took home the championship trophy with a score of 76 (+10). Jayrin Kim (Burkeville, VA 2024) made a birdie on hole #10 that ultimately pushed her into second place. A back nine, 34, for Addison Ritter (Afton, VA 2025) propelled her to a third place finish. Katie Lee (McLean, VA 2026) made a birdie and shot 82 to finish fourth.

Futures Series
With three birdies throughout the round, Aspen Bikowski (White Plains, MD 2027) took home the championship hardware with a score of 74 (+8). Both Adelyn Sweet (Moseley, VA 2025) and Joelle Barksdale (Washington, DC 2025) both made a birdie on the day to claim second and third place, respectively. Sady Shafie (Laytonsville, MD 2026) shot 35 on the back nine to put the finishing touches on her fourth place finish.

Sy Shafie (Laytonsville, MD 2028) scored an impressive 30(-1) on the day to bring home the trophy. With a birdie on the third hole, Jasmine Limm (Chesterfield, VA 2029) came in second with a score of 33 (+2). Berkeley Gibb (Waynesboro, VA 2029) made 5 straight pars to end the day and finished third. Rachel Lynn Lewis (Richmond, VA 2028) came in fourth with a score of 57 (+26).

About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
