Greensboro, NC – On Sunday, June 19th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the 2022 PKBGT Valley Junior Girls Open at Hunting Hills Country Club in Roanoke, VA. This annual tournament is in partnership with the Valley Junior Girls Scholarship Fund, a local organization also based in Roanoke.
Following the banquet dinner from the night before, players were ready to take on the course bright and early for the final round. Tee times for the final round of the 2022 Valley Junior Girls Open were set to commence at 8:00 AM off of Hole #1. Players arrived at the practice facilities eager to get the round started and potentially take home the trophy.
First place was open for the taking following the first round of play set in the luscious Blue Ridge Mountains. A Roanoke native, Ashnoor Kaur, held the lead at just four-over-par for the Bell National Division going into Round 2. After day one, Lily Hollberg held the lead for the Futures National Division firing an opening round of 79 (+8).
At the end of the day, two girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division in the PKBGT Valley Junior Girls Open.
Bell National
Grace Addison (Abingdon, VA 2023) took home the championship bowl in the 13-player Bell National field with a two-day score of 79, 72 = 151 (+9). After being tied for second at the end of Round 1, Addison took first by scoring only one-over-par on day two.
Originally in fifth after the end of round 1, Mckenzie Weddle (Floyd, VA 2023) finished as runner up with a two-day score of 80, 73 = 153 (+11). Weddle was also the only one to score an eagle in Round 2! As a native to Roanoke, Carolina Gilreath (Roanoke, VA 2023) made a comeback in Round 2 in order to take home third, having a two-day score of 81, 74 = 155 (+13). Ashnoor Kaur (Roanoke, VA 2027) finished the tournament in fourth place with a score of 75, 82 = 157 (+15)

Futures National
Taylor Davis (Salem, VA 2024) took home the champion hardware with a two-day score of 82, 75 = 153 (+15). She rose up from being tied in second at the end of Round 1 to taking first. This is Davis’ first time taking first in a PKB event!
Coming back from being tied for fourth at the end of Round 1, Katherine Yun (Ashburn, VA 2028) came in second with a two-day score of 83, 75 = 158 (+16), only one stroke away from Davis. As a local, Lily Hollberg (Moseley, VA 2025) maintained a spot in the top four by clutching third place with a two-day score of 79, 81 = 160 (+18). Another native, Emmerson Bartley (Roanoke, VA 2022), remained in the top four, taking fourth overall with a score of 82, 83 = 163 (+23).

Closing Remarks
We would like to extend our greatest thanks to our partners for this event, Valley Junior Girls Scholarship Fund, as well as the entire staff at Hunting Hills Country Club for their incredible hospitality throughout the weekend. Competing on a course in the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains, this weekend provided a challenge for all of our competitors. About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
