Stoney Creek, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour will host its final event of the year this Saturday and Sunday, November 13th & 14th at Stoney Creek GC.The top players of the tour and other special invitees will be making an appearance at the newly renovated Stoney Creek facility. In 2010, the golf course underwent major reconstruction. The renovations by Medalist Golf included all new greens complexes, new bunkers, adding several new tee areas, laser leveling of all tee complexes, an extensive expansion of the practice facility that includes a new short game area and a new practice putting green. Additionally, the clubhouse facility was completely renovated to create a comfortable and warm atmosphere.The stage will be set for 60 of the PKB select to showcase their end of season heroics.Featured contenders in the coming PKB Invitational include: Kristi Ingram of Winston – Salem, NC, Katie Kirk of Davidson, NC, Kayla Sciupider of Etowah, NC and Lyberty Anderson of Chesterfield, VA.
4a NC state champion, Kristi Ingram of Winston – Salem, NC will be looking to continue her strong play coming off her final round 71 that earned her the state girls’ title. Ingram has consistently progressed through the ranks during her time on the PKB Tour, but her most recent shot of success may be just the spark she needs to catapult her into a PKB major championship title. The NC 4 a state runner up, Katie Kirk of Davidson, NC will hope to add her second PKB major trophy to her collection this weekend. Kirk captured the last PKB Major Championship held at Bryan Park GC this summer with a historic final round 67 that brought her the event victory and propelled her to the top of the 2010 PKB Order of Merit. Also, recent Virginia High School Girls State Champion, Lyberty Anderson of Chesterfield, Virginia, closed out her high school season firing 67-69 at Red Wing Lake Golf Course in Virginia Beach to win by two strokes. Anderson became the first Central Region player to win the state title since the Girls Open began in 2002. Her 136 aggregate broke the tournament record by two strokes. Anderson is no stranger to PKB Majors as she captured her first early this year at the PKB’s first major at Pine Needles. Lastly, West Henderson’s Kayla Sciupider won her second straight championship in 1A/2A/3A at the Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Southern Pines. Sciupider shot an even-par 71 to go with a first-day 72 to win by two shots. Sciupider has captured one PKB title this year at the Beacon Ridge Classic and will look to add a major to her PKB tour career this week. First rounds action will begin with an 11am shotgun start followed by an 8:30am Sunday double tee finish. Come join us for this great event !
