Southern Pines, NC-The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the weather-shortened PKB Foundation Classic on a chilly Saturday in January. Due to the threat of freezing rain and snow up and down the I-95 corridor, along with unplayable conditions expected for the final round, the PKB Girls’ Tour staff canceled the final round.

The PKB Foundation Classic, known for its incredibly strong field and challenging host sites, didn’t disappoint for the 2021 edition of the Classic event. Just like last year’s event at Forest Creek Golf Club, Macy Pate (Winston-Salem, NC 2024) found herself in the hunt right off the bat. With a hard frost, a shotgun start had to be implemented. Pate started on the par-three eleventh. After nine holes, it became clear that only four had a shot at the title, Morgan Ketchum (Winston-Salem, NC 2024), Lexanne Halama (Knoxville, TN 2021), and Grace Lu (Edison, NJ 2022). Thru fifteen, it was down to Pate and the Illinois Women’s Golf signee Halama. Ultimately, the bogey from Halama on her final hole cost Lexanne a shot at her first victory on the PKB Girls’ Tour since her title at the Tarheel Classic three years ago. For Pate, it was her first Bell National victory. In the past twelve months, Macy has finished second on four occasions.
1. Macy Pate (Winston-Salem, NC 2024) / 72 (E)
2. Lexanne Halama (Knoxville, TN 2021) / 73 (+1)
T3. Morgan Ketchum (Winston-Salem, NC 2022) / 74 (+2)*
T3. Grace Lu (Edison, NJ 2022) / 74 (+2)

No shaky knees from Emma Niebauer (High Point, NC 2022) as she claims her first PKB Girls Tour victory on the Futures National circuit. Emma’s last event came in Pinehurst at the PKB Junior, where she finished 11th. Emma carded one birdie on the day, coming on the par-three third hole en route to a round of 76 (+4) enough for a one-shot victory. Niebauer joins a list of first-time winners since the start of the 2021 calendar year. Last week another Carolinian, Chloe Scofield, won her first event at the Sea Island Resort Girls Classic. Finishing second in the weather-shortened PKB Foundation Classic was Bethany Welch (Matthews, NC 2023), who shot her career-low round of 77 (+5). Welch had three circles on her card, including two on the back nine.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour travels down to UGA Golf Club for the ROCKET TOUR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP.

The Tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the Tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2020 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only Tour in the country.
