On Sunday, October 6, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the 2019 Peachtree Girls Classic at Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone Mountain, GA.
Leaves changing colors and the temperatures **finally beginning to drop in the Southeast corner of the United States can only signal one thing – that the 2020 PKBGT National season is finally here!
This weekend, the PKBGT played the debut event of the 2020 PKBGT National Season just miles from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, GA. Nestled amongst the scenic trees and backdrop of the widely known Stone Mountain National Park, the Peachtree Girls Classic featured players from across the Southeast region.
A field composed of both new and familiar faces, seven players teed it up on the PKBGT for the first time – four of which are attending from the newly formed G2 Academy, the nation’s first girls-only golf academy and the Official Academy of the PKBGT! Let’s take a look at how things ended up at the inaugural Peachtree Girls Classic!
Bell National
With not one, but TWO exemptions into the 2019 PKBGT Invitational at stake this weekend, the competition was fierce in the Bell Division as ten of the Southeast’s top players battled it out for a spot in the coveted PKBGT Championship event this November.
Taking home first place and a spot in the Invitational was Averi Cline (Suwanee, GA 2022) after posting rounds of 73 – 74 = 147. Cline carded six birdies over the weekend to win by a margin of seven strokes.
The runner up for the Bell division was Katie Scheck (Greensboro, NC 2021) with scores of 74 – 80 = 154. Scheck, a high school junior, carded five birdies over her two rounds at Stone Mountain. With her second place finish, she has also earned her spot in the 2019 PKBGT Invitational next month!
Finishing in a tie for third with two-day totals of 162 were Kelli Scheck (Greensboro, NC 2022) and Regina Plascencia Celis (Bluffton, SC 2022). Scheck and Plascencia Celis posted rounds 84-78 and 82-80, respectively. Rounding out the top five was Ashley Chow (Bluffton, SC 2020) with a score of 83 – 80 = 163.
Futures National
In the Futures Division, players dug deep to compete for the first win of the 2020 season. Taking home the title with scores of 84-87=171 was Zoe Duval (Cumming, GA 2025), earning her first PKBGT victory! Duval, who punched her ticket into the 2019 Tournament of Champions this fall at Pinehurst #8, carded 13 pars and one birdie over the weekend.
Eight strokes behind Duval finishing in second place was Fatima Rizvi (Bluffton, SC 2023). Rizvi, playing in her first PKBGT event and also a member of the inaugural G2 Girls Academy Class, posted rounds of 87-92=179.
In third place was Kasey McIlvaine (Raleigh, NC 2023) with scores of 89 – 91 = 180 followed by Kennedy Brady (Concord, NC 2022) with scores of 95 – 96 = 191. Rounding out the top five was Steele Southerland (Atlanta, GA 2026) who posted rounds of 100 – 98 = 198.

About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2019 season will feature over 90 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast and with over 900 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
