On Friday, June 21, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the 2019 PKBGT North Carolina Series at Bryan Park Golf Course (Players) in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Whirling winds left golfers at Bryan Park Golf Course to question whether the Players course was in the direct path of a rumbling trainlike tornado on Thursday afternoon. The skies opened up with the wrath of a rushing waterfall, shocking strikes of lightning stretched cloud to ground, and the course transformed into a river.
Luckily, for the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour, the North Carolina Series at Bryan Park Golf Course (Players) wouldn’t take place until Friday and the vicious storm blew away the humidity. Celebrating Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year brought glaring sunshine and a refreshing breeze to Greensboro.
Just a short drive down the road from PKBGT headquarters, the North Carolina Series gathered at Bryan Park for an afternoon under the sun. The field of 56 competed in three divisions: Prep division at 5,800 yards, Futures division at 5,260 yards and Discovery division at 1,875 yards.
The PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.
Following a pristine day on the course, let’s take a look at how the leaderboard panned out!

By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2019 season will feature over 90 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast and with over 900 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
