On Saturday, March 2, the 2019 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Central Florida Series Alaqua Classic at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, FL. The PKBGT is excited to be working in partnership with Insurance Office of America as the presenting sponsor of the series for the second year in a row!
These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.
Prep Division
Leading the Prep Division after the first round of play is Caroline McConnell (South Fayette, PA 2022) who shot an 81 (+10) on the day. Currently sitting in second place with a first round score of 95 (+24) is Sarah Fox (Lakeland, FL 2021).
Futures Division
In the Futures Division, Morgan Stephens (Sanford, FL 2020) sits in first place after shooting an 83 (+12) on Saturday. Abigail Fernandez (Windermere, FL 2023) sits one stroke behind Stephens in second place after an 84 (+13) in the first round. Shooting a 94 (+23) was McKenzie Coody (Orange City, FL 2024) who is in third place. Sitting at fourth place with a first round score of 97 (+26) is McKenna Murphy (Sanford, FL 2025). Rounding out the top five in the Futures Division is Reagan Chastain (Orlando, FL 2023) with a first round score of 98 (+27).
Discovery Division
Currently leading the Discovery Division is Mara King (Longwood, FL 2023) after shooting a first-round 37 (+2). In second place after one round of play is Kelsy Douglas (Orlando, FL 2027) who shot a first-round 43 (+7). Brynn Pressimone (Longwood, FL 2026) is in third place with after a score of 46 (+10). In fourth place with a score of 50 (+14) is Briel Royce (Orlando, FL 2027). Closing out the leaderboard after the first round is Adriana Pagan (Ovideo, FL 2026) with a score of 53 (+17).
The second round of the Central Florida Series Alaqua Classic will be played tomorrow, March 3. We wish all of our competitors the best of luck in the final round!

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to “get into the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The Central Florida Regional Series Kickoff event features a field of 24 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2019 season will feature over 90 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast and with over 900 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
