On Sunday January 13, 2019, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour played the second and final round of the Eagle Classic at Georgia Southern University Golf Course in Statesboro, GA.
The field of 22 competitors are grouped in the Bell National Division, playing the course at 5,927 yards, and the Futures National Division, playing at 5,304 yards.
Following an exciting final round, we take a look at how the tournament played out!
Bell National
With a two day total of 78-69 = 147 (+3), Katie Scheck (Greensboro, GA 2021) brought home the trophy winning the 2019 Eagle Classic in the Bell National Division. Katie’s second round and low round of the tournament of 69 (-3) catapulted her to a 9-stroke victory in the second PKBGT event of the 2019 calendar year.
Finishing in second place with a two-day score of 80-76 = 156 (+12) is Aaron Whitley (Sarasota, FL 2021).
Indiana native Abigail Whittington (Evansville, IN 2020) came in third place with a two-day total of 80-79 = 159 (+15)
After a two-day score of 80-81 = 161 (+17), Christian Williams (Tallapoosa, GA 2021) finished in fourth place
Rounding out the top five in the Bell National field was Abigayle Hatcher (Roebuck, SC 2019) with a score of 85-79 = 164 (+20).
Futures National
Winning the Futures National field in at the 2019 Eagle Classic with a two-day score of 75- 75 = 150 (+6) was Erica Scutt (Johns Creek, GA 2021). Scutt’s consistent rounds of 75 secured her an 18 shot victory to secure her first PKBGT Classic title.
In second place with a score of 85-83 = 168 (+24) was Lauren Barber (Jeanette, PA 2021).
A two-day score of 85-86 = 171 (+27) placed Annabelle Mozingo (Jacksonville, FL 2022) in third place following the final round.
Sophie Lauture (Raleigh, NC 2024) finished the tournament in fourth place after shooting 91- 82 = 173 (+29).
Closing out the top finishers in Statesboro was Paige Paolucci (Blythewood, SC 2022) with a final score of 86-88 = 174 (+30).
Closing Remarks
We would like to thank all of the staff at Georgia Southern University Golf Course for hosting us this past weekend! The PKBGT is back in action next weekend with the 2nd Annual Linville Cup at Mid Pines Inn and GC in Southern Pines, NC.
