Following a frost delay, play began at 10:00 am and players arrived early and eager to get their PKBGT Invitational underway. After a chilly morning, the sun and temperature came up and players got hot! Macie Rasmussen (Chesapeake, VA 2027) started steady with a birdie to go along with six pars in her first seven holes, then Rasmussen caught fire! A birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie stretch vaulted her to the top of the leaderboard. Of course, Rasmussen would make a closing birdie on to post a bogey free seven-under to lead the Invitational by four.
A pair of future collegiate players sit tied for second at three-under par. Wake Forest commit Sarah Lydic (Ocean View, DE 2024) made five birdies during her opening round and had just one blemish on her scorecard. Western Kentucky commit Reagan Folk (Madison, GA 2024) made an eagle on the par-4 5th and added three birdies positioning herself for the weekend.
Mia Carles (Clinton, SC 2027) and Hannah Hall (Rockledge, FL 2026) are tied for fourth at two-under par. Well decorated PKBGT veterans Elsie MacCleery (Crozet, VA 2025), Emerson B. Dever (Durham, NC 2025) and Ellen Yu (Greensboro, NC 2025) are set up to make a charge on moving day after opening with rounds of one-under.

About the PKBGT
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.
