Recap: NC Series Kyle Reifers and Family Open at River Run CC

Greensboro, NCOn Tuesday, August 9th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the North Carolina Series’ Kyle Reifers & Family Open at River Run Country Club in Davidson, North Carolina. 

River Run provided the perfect setting for the players to get in a challenging round of golf and tee times were set to commence at 11:30 A.M. off of Hole #1. Players arrived at the practice facilities eager to get the round started, beat some afternoon storms, and potentially take home the winning hardware.

At the end of the day, three girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division in the Kyle Reifer’s & Family Open at River Run Country Club.

Prep Series

Malerie Lague (Huntersville, NC 2025) scored 39’s on the front and back to take home the championship trophy with a score of 78 (+6). Cailynn Winford (Mooresville, NC 2023) made a birdie on hole #13 that ultimately pushed her into second place. Hannah Waddell (Salisbury, NC 2024) played the back nine six shots better than the front nine which propelled her to a third place finish.

Futures Series

With two birdies throughout the round, Madison Park (Charlotte, NC 2026) scored a 81(+9) for the day. This matched the round of Brooke Busby (Salisbury, NC 2027) who made one birdie on the day. Park and Busby would go into a playoff where Park would come out with the championship. Minyan Ou (Shelby, NC 2028) played an excellent round with two birdies and finished with an 82(+10) that gave her a third place finish. Alexis Blanchette (Davidson, NC) / 86 (+14) scored a 39 in the front nine which helped lead her to a fourth place finish.

Discovery Series

Minlin Ou (Shelby, NC 2032) made five pars over her nine holes helping her walk away with the championship trophy. Sophia Perdue (Clemmons, NC 2028) and Sophia Samonte (Concord, NC 2028) both made two pars on the day leading them to a second and third place finish, respectively. Brooklyn Samonte (Concord, NC 2028) scored a par on the tough 5th hole setting up her for a fourth place finish.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
