Update: 2021 PKBGT Invitational

Bermuda Run, NC- The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour continued play at the thirteenth annual PKBGT Invitational hosted at Bermuda Run Country Club. Played around Veterans Day weekend every year, the tour’s best compete on the West and East Course over two days, with the top thirty and ties advancing to the East Course’s final round. The PKBGT Invitational has the strongest field of the season every year, and 2021 was no different! Moving day provided plenty of storylines as the field of 60 is diminished to thirty-two.

We knew going into day two of the PKBGT Invitational would be a much harder challenge on the East Course, but the wind today made it even more so. Sara Im (Duluth, GA 2023), owner of two PKBGT records from the 2020 PKBGT Invitational, had a fantastic round of 2-Under on Moving Day which has given her a 5-shot lead going into Monday. Im began her second round with a par train which was stopped by a bogey on the par-four fifth and she closed out with pars for a 37 (+1) on the front. The Duluth, GA native, added three more birdies on the back. Sarah’s round of 70 (-2) was ten shots better than the day’s average. Elizabeth Rudisill (Charlotte, NC 2025) and Hailey Han (Duluth, GA 2025) stayed closely behind Im from their Round 1 three-way tie at 70 (-2), but a few bogeys between the two have set them 5 and 6-strokes back respectively going into the final round.

The biggest mover on moving day was Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022), who fired a 72 (E), which included four birdies on the day to catapult Atwood up enough to make the cut into tomorrow. Another player to note was Leah Edwards (Greensboro, NC 2025) who went 73 / 76 to make her very first cut!

1. Sara Im (Duluth, GA 2023) / 70 / 70 =  170 (-4)

2. Elizabeth Rudisill (Charlotte, NC 2025) / 70 / 75 = 145 (+1)

T3. Hailey Han (Duluth, GA 2025) / 70 / 76 = 146 (+2)

T3. Macy Pate (Winston-Salem, NC 2024) / 73 / 73 = 146 (+2)

5. Ellen Yu (Greensboro, NC 2026) / 73 / 74 = 147 (+3)

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2020-2021 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
