Preview: 2022 PKBGT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Greensboro, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Tour returns to historic Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club for the PKBGT Tour Championship at the home of our Tour namesake, Ms. Peggy Kirk Bell. Champions and top performers of the season will gather to Pine Needles, which has been voted annually as one of the top tracks in the Carolina’s. The best of the tour converge at the home of golf in North Carolina for this 54 hole championship event.

The field of 83 competitors will be split into two separate divisions of play; the Bell National Division and the Futures National Division. There will be representatives from eleven different states along the east coast, ranging from Georgia to New York. We delve deeper into each division with our players to watch at the strongest junior golf event on the East Coast next week.

Bell National

The Bell National Division field features 47 of the tour’s top players, including 32 of the top 100 players on the PKBGT Performance Index

Ranked #2 on the PKBGT Performance Index is Kathryn Ha (Roanoke, VA 2025). Ha returns to the PKBGT Tour Championship as defending champion, so there is a possibility for her to continue her reign if she secures first for a second year in a row. Not only did she win this event last year, but she also tied for third at the PKBGT Masters presented by Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts and took sixth at the PKBGT Open Championship in order to play next week.

Only three spots behind Ha is Elsie MacCleery (Crozet, VA 2025), at #5 on the PKBGT Performance Index. The Crozet, VA native has had quite the season finishing first in both the Kandi Comer Girls Classic and the PKBGT Regional Tournament of Champions at Palmetto Dunes Resort.

At the conclusion of the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, the Bell National Order of Merit title will be announced.

  • Avery McCrery — Wilmington, DE — Class of 2025 — #13 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Maya Beasley — Pinehurst, NC — Class of 2023 — #14 on the PKBGT Performance Index

Futures National

The Futures National Division features 36 rising talents, 30 of which are placed #50 or lower on the Futures National Order of Merit.

Riley Grimm (Pinehurst, NC 2028) is not only #47 on the PKBGT Performance Index, but she is also holds first in the Futures National Order of Merit. Throughout this season, Grimm has won five tournaments, including the PKBGT Masters presented by Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts and the PKBGT Open Championship.

Hallie Wilson (Winston Salem, NC 2027) is ranked both #84 on the PKBGT Performance Index and #28 on the Futures National Order of Merit rankings. Wilson took fourth last year at this event, and she also has placed third at the Precision Jr. Girls Championship and sixth at the PKBGT Open Championship.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
