Recap: Peachtree Classic at Braelinn Golf Club

Greensboro, NC – On Sunday, August 7th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the Peachtree Classic at Braelin Golf Club in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Following an excellent first round, players were ready to take on the course, with many in striking distance. Tee time’s began at noon and players arrived at the practice facilities eager to get the round started and potentially take first place.

At the end of the day, two girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division in the PKBGT Peachtree Classic.

Bell National

Christina Surcey (Cartersville, GA 2024) took home first place with scores of 72, 70 = 142 (-2). Surcey scored four birdies on the back nine on Sunday to close with a 2-under 70 and a one-shot victory. Victoriah Kuranga (Decatur, GA 2023) played excellent golf over the two-day tournament and closed with a one-under 71 to claim second place. Her two-day score for the tournament was 72, 71 = 143(-1). Mahima Vurupatur (Alpharetta, GA 2024) claimed third following a 73 to open the tournament. Megan Adelman (Bryn Mawr, PA 2023) bettered her first round score by 4 shots on Sunday to secure fourth place.

Futures National

Molly Spector (Atlanta, GA 2028) held the overnight lead in Peachtree City following an opening round 73. It would end up being a lead Spector would hold onto Sunday, closing with a 76 for a total score of 149(+5).  Myla Rookard (Atlanta, GA 2026) and Madison Rookard (Atlanta, GA 2024) would match 76’s on Sunday to secure second and third place, respectively. Mahathi Vurupatur (Alpharettta, GA 2026) made six birdies over the course of the weekend positioning herself in fourth place .

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
