Recap: PKBGT Regional Invitational

Greensboro, NC – On Sunday, December 18th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the PKBGT Regional Invitational at Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA. 

Following an excellent first round, players were ready to take on the course, with many in striking distance. Tee time’s began at 8:40 am and players arrived at the practice facilities eager to get the round started and potentially take first place.

At the end of the day, two girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division at the PKBGT Regional Invitational!

Bell National

Hannah Barrett (Richmond Hill, GA 2023) started the day with five stroke lead but after a rocky start to her final round her lead shrunk. Ariel Collins (Locust Grove, GA 2028) was on her heels the entire day and in a great position to complete the comeback after birdieing the par-5 9th. Hannah entered the final two holes with a one-shot lead over Ariel. Ariel did all she could to put pressure on Barrett by birdieing her final two holes. Barrett proved she had what it took by matching Collins’ birdies on 17 and 18 to hold on to win the division. Claire Bradford (Bogart, GA 2025) bettered her opening round by six strokes on Sunday and would move into third place. While Mackenzie Cline’s (Cary, NC 2025) birdie on the 12th hole would push her into fourth place.

Futures National

Narah Hope Kim (Duluth, GA 2027) entered the final round with a share of the lead with Addison Peoples (Gainesville, GA 2029) but the day would belong to the former. Kim played a great round of golf that included two birdies on her way to a closing 76 (+4) and a five shot victory. Peeples started off the slow but righted the ship on the back-nine and played her final nine holes in just 1-over. She would finish in solo second. Katelyn Cox (Taylors, SC 2026) made three birdies in her round on Sunday. Her birdie barrage would move her into third place for the event. Aayra Iqbal (Charlotte, NC 2027) played a very steady rounds of golf during the weekend and finished in fourth place.

Closing Remarks

We would like to extend our greatest thanks to the entire staff at Chateau Elan Golf Club for their incredible hospitality. This weekend provided a challenge for all of our competitors and we would like to congratulate all of our medalists at the 2022 PKBGT Regional Invitational!

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
