Just like the PKBGT Regional Invitational, just a few short weeks ago, Kayla Maletto (Sinking Springs, PA 2024) finds herself in the final pairing on Sunday at the PKBGT Regional Tournament of Champions. Maletto fired an opening-round 75 (+3) to hold a one-shot overnight lead. Maletto, the Delaware Valley Prep Storie Order of Merit winner, is in prime form to capture her first-ever National Series event. Kayla carded two birdies on both nines, including the challenging par-three fifteenth.

A fellow Delaware Valley regional series participant, Avery McCrery (Wilmington, DE 2025), will join Maletto in the final group with two-time Bell National winner Yedam Lee (Lawrenceville, GA 2021), who both shot rounds of 76 (+4).

Lurking two behind Maletto is Abby Franks (Roebuck, SC 2023) at (+5). Franks made the cut at the 2020 PKBGT Invitational earlier this month.

Futures National

The newcomer to the National Series and one of the youngest players in the field heads into the final round as the overnight leader. Ella June Hannant (Pikeville, NC 2027) after an outstanding round of even-par (E). Hannant finished second last week at the inaugural Cutter Creek Classic behind a dominant performance from Jenna Kim. Hannant’s round today included two birdies. She went out in 35 and home in 37. The highlight of the day for Ella June came when she sent a beautiful approach shot into the challenging par-four second for a tap-in birdie.

Just a shot behind the youngster is Caroline Hawkins (Columbia, SC 2026), winner of the Georgia Highlands Classic and the Atlanta Girls Classic earlier this year after her round of 73 (+1). Hawkins eagled the par-five thirteenth and followed with a birdie on the fourteenth. Although the Palmetto native struggled on the next three holes, she maintained her composure and closed with a birdie on the eighteenth. Joining Hannant and Hawkins in the final pairing is another youngster Riley Grimm (Pinehurst, NC 2028), after a round of 75 (+3).

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2020-2021 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
