PKBGT Announces Central Gulf Coast Storie Order of Merit Winners

Greensboro, NC- The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is pleased to announce the three recipients of the 2021 Storie Order of Merit for the PKBGT Central Gulf Coast Series. The Central Gulf Coast Series spanned over five months around greater Metro Orlando. A total of 30 players competed at seven events.

 

Prep Central Gulf Coast

Mariane Johnson (Niceville, FL 2023) played this season just like her hometown, quite nicely. The Niceville native will receive her first invitation to Pinehurst after a tremendous season posting two rounds in the mid 70’s in the Central Gulf Coast.

Johnson competed in four of the seven events, which makes this accomplishment that much greater. She concluded the series with an 81.00 scoring average and her par three scoring average was just over 3. Mariane’s best round occurred at Scenic Hills Country Club where she shot a (+3) round of 75 to win by five shots.

Over the four events, Johnson finished as the medalist on three occasions and finished runner up in the series finale at Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club.

Futures Central Florida

Kayla Tolbert (Cantonment, FL 2022) made a splash last year in the Central Gulf Coast Series before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the remaining portion of the schedule. Almost a year later, Kayla picked up right where she left off capturing her first PKBGT STORIE Order of Merit regional title. Tolbert finished inside the top two in all five of her appearances this season.

Tolbert concluded the CGC schedule with an 87.80 scoring average with her two best rounds occurring at Azalea City Golf Course and Heron Lakes Country Club with rounds.

Over the course of the season, Tolbert tabbed three medalist honors and two runner-up finishes.

Discovery Central Florida

Jasmine Nguyen (Mobile, AL 2030) will be the lone representative from the state of Alabama at the 2022 Linville Cup thanks to her outstanding performance this season along the Gulf Coast. Jasmine held a spot on the podium at every single event this season.

Nguyen finished the CGC schedule with a 9-hole scoring average of 49 over six rounds played. Get used to the name Jasmine Nguyen, she’s gonna be out here a long time as a class of 2030 competitor!

Jasmine carded four medalist honors, one runner-up finish, and a third this season.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
