PKBGT Announces Central Florida Storie Order of Merit Winners

Greensboro, NC- The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is pleased to announce the three recipients of the 2021 Storie Order of Merit for the PKBGT Central Florida Series. The Central Florida Series spanned over five months around greater Metro Orlando. A total of 57 players competed at seven events.

 

Prep Central Florida

Abigail Fernandez (Windermere, FL 2023) saved her best stuff for the series finale finally reaching paydirt after a round of 78 (+6) to win not only the series finale but also the Prep Order of Merit title as well! Fernandez, who finished inside the top four in every CFL Series event this season, has been a stalwart over the past few years at the Regional Invitational, Tournament of Champions, and the Linville Cup, her favorite event on the schedule.

Fernandez concluded the CFL Series with a scoring average a sliver under 80 over six rounds played with a scoring differential of 7.22. Fernandez, a consistency machine, made par on 42% of the holes she played with a 3.20 scoring average on par 3’s.

Over the six events, Fernandez finished fourth once, third on three separate occasions, runner-up once, and first.

Futures Central Florida

Karolyna Adams (Saint Cloud, FL 2026) will be joining Fernandez as the Futures Regional representative at the 2022 Linville Cup after capturing her second straight PKBGT Central Florida Storie Order of Merit title. Adams, the 2020 Discovery Central Florida Storie Order of Merit champion, finished with gold at the series finale at Celebration Golf Club garnering her 28 Order of Merit points which was enough to overthrow Meyher Khokhar (Gotha, FL 2026) by three.

Adams closed the CFL schedule with an 86.33 scoring average with her best score being an 83 and just one round above 88.

Over the course of the season, Adams finished third on three occasions, placed fourth and fifth and finished as the medalist once.

Discovery Central Florida

Claire Yang (Winderemere, FL 2029) will be joining her Prep CFL neighbor at the 2022 Linville Cup after a tremendous campaign on the PKBGT Central Florida Series circuit. Claire put together her best round of the season on May 22nd at Eagle Creek Golf Course firing a round of 37 (+1) that included two birdies.

Yang concluded the CFL schedule with a 9-hole scoring average of 39.20 over four rounds played. What’s even more impressive is Claire made par on over 50% of the holes she played this season!

Claire recorded two victories, a fifth place and a fourth this season.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
