Recap: Kentucky Series Finale at University Club of Kentucky

On Saturday-Sunday, October 12-13, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the 2019 PKBGT Kentucky Series Finale at University Club of Kentucky – Wildcat in Lexington, KY.

As the PKBGT grows and expands into new regions across the eastern seaboard of the United States, the inaugural Kentucky Series began with six one-day events and concluding with the two-day finale this weekend.

The Kentucky Series was promoted in partnership with the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour. The PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-18. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.

Futures Division

Morgan Shown (Lexington, KY 2022) took home the first place finish at University Club of Kentucky with rounds of 87-72=159 for a two-shot victory. Final Thoughts

With continued growth of both the series and girls’ golf as a whole, it turned out to be a great year on the inaugural Kentucky Series circuit! A huge thanks to our series partner – the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour – as well as to Shannon Kelley and Liz Zimmer (PKBGT Kentucky Series Tournament Directors) for their continued support of the series and girls’ golf. Another thanks to Storie Apparel for providing all regional members with a logoed PKBGT polo!

A huge congratulations to our three new Storie Apparel Order of Merit Champions  – Reagan Clark (Prep), Madison Borders (Futures) and Kiera Yun (Discovery)! Stay tuned as we recap and recount the success of these three throughout the series.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2019 season will feature over 90 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast and with over 900 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
