Recap: 2019 PKBGT Central Florida Series Girls Classic at LPGA International (Jones)

On Sunday, June 2, the 2019 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the Central Florida Series Girls Classic at LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, FL. The PKBGT is excited to be working in partnership with Insurance Office of America as the presenting sponsor of the series for the second year in a row!

These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.

Prep Division

Bringing home the trophy in the Prep Division was Annabelle Mozingo (Jacksonville, FL 2022)! Mozingo finished the tournament with a total score of 83, 78 = 161 (+17). Finishing runner-up with a two-day score of 83, 79 = 162 (+18) was Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020). In third place, finishing with a two-day score of 85, 84 = 169 (+25), was Sarah Fox (Lakeland, FL 2021)

Futures Division

In the Futures Division, Abigail Fernandez (Windermere, FL 2023) took home the championship after posting a two-day score of 83, 82 = 165 (+21). In second place was Morgan Stephens (Sanford, FL 2020) who finished the tournament with a score of 86, 87 = 173 (+29).

Chloe Browning (Oviedo, FL 2021) closed out the Futures Division in third place. She finished with a two-day total score of 116, 104 = 220 (+76).

Discovery Division

In the Discovery Division, Brynn Pressimone (Longwood, FL 2025) topped the leaderboard with a weekend total of 41, 44 = 85 (+13). She brought home the victory by winning a tiebreaker playoff hole!  Kelsey Douglas (Orlando, FL 2027) came in second place, also finishing with a two-day score of 43, 42 = 85 (+13). She fell just short in the tiebreaker playoff, earning runner-up honors!

Finishing in third place, Riley Fletcher (Winter Springs, FL 2025) finished with a weekend total of 45, 43 = 88 (+16). Closing out the top five, in a two-way tie for fourth place, was Haley Plumley (Maitland, FL 2026) and Madison Dusenbury (Deland, FL 2028). Both players finished with two-day scores of 94 (+22).

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to “get into the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
