Recap: PKBGT Central Florida Series at Eagle Creek GC

On Saturday, May 4, the 2019 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Central Florida Series at Eagle Creek GC in Orlando, FL. The PKBGT is excited to be working in partnership with Insurance Office of America as the presenting sponsor of the series for the second year in a row!

These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.

Futures Division

Taking home the championship in the Futures Division in a tiebreaker playoff, was Darby Hancock (Lakeland, FL 2025) after shooting a score of 77 (+4). This was Hancock’s first win in here Futures division career!

Finishing in second place, also with a final score of 77 (+4) was Morgan Stephens (Sanford, FL 2020). Stephens fell just short of Hancock in the playoff, but put on quite a performance in her round on Saturday!

Just one stroke behind the leaders, Abigail Fernandez (Windermere, FL 2023) finished in third place.  Rounding out the top finishers was Cameron Spellman (Heathrow, FL 2022) who finished in fourth place with a score of 81 (+8). Spellman made two birdies on the afternoon.

Discovery Division

The Champion of the Discovery Division, also in a tiebreaker, was Riley Fletcher (Winter Springs, FL 2025). Mackiewicz posted a two-over-par score of 38 to win the trophy! Adriana Pagan (Oviedo,  FL 2026) finished in second place, also closing out her round with a score of 38 (+2).

Bretton Mackiewicz (Longwood, FL 2025) finished in third place, one stoke behind the leaders, with a score of 39 (+3) on the afternoon.  In fourth place with a score of 42 (+6) was Brynn Pressimone (Longwood, FL 2026). Rounding out the Top Five was Liana Brewer (Tampa, FL 2028) with a score of 51 (+15).

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to “get into the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The Central Florida Regional Series Kickoff event features a field of 24 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
