Update: 2018 PKBGT Invitational at Bermuda Run Country Club

The wind was swirling and temperatures were low, but the sun was shining as the tour’s brightest stars took the course in the first round of the 2018 PKBGT Invitational at Bermuda Run Country Club. Player’s competed on the club’s west course in Saturday’s round.

Following the first day of competition, there is a three-way tie for first place. Anna Morgan (Spartanburg, SC 2019), Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) and Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021) have a two-stroke lead on the rest of the field after firing first round scores of 71 (-1).

Turner jumped out to a quick start on each nine with birdies on the first and tenth holes. Morgan also carded four birdies on the day and Schuster made three of her own.

In sole possession of fourth place with a score of 73 (+1) is Caroline Craig (Sautee Nacoochee, GA 2019).  Craig capitalized on the par three’s on the West Course, going two-under over the four holes.

Rounding out the top-5 in a two way tie is defending champion Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) and Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2019) with scores of 74 (+2). Hayes started her back nine strong with back-to-back birdies and Sambach remained even keel throughout the day while carding three birdies of her own.

Play shifts to the East Course tomorrow morning and the field is still wide open. We look forward to a competitive second round on Sunday morning! Be sure to follow the action with live scoring at the link below!
