Preview: Palmetto Classic at Cobblestone Park GC

The PKBGT returns to action March 3-4, 2018 with the Palmetto Classic at Cobblestone GC in Blythewood, SC.  The event will feature 61 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They will tackle the course at 5,780 yards in the Bell National and Prep Preview divisions.Pine Needles Lodge & GC

The Palmetto Classic is the fifth tournament of the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge presented by the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. The Challenge will consist of 7 events between January and March 2018 and be operated by the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour. The first 6 pre-qualifying events will be open to any PKBGT member and will qualify PKBGT Bell National players for the Junior Challenge Qualifier on March 24-25, 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point. The champion of the qualifier will receive the sponsor exemption* (qualifying player must have a USGA handicap index of 3.7 or better to be granted the exemption). The Bell National Series features a strong field of 31 players from 7 different states.  Featured in the Bell National Series are Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018), Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019) and Carolina Curtis (Richmond, VA 2019). Emily is currently ranked 21st on the Bell National Order of Merit for the 2018 season.  She finished in runner-up at the PKBGT Invitational at Grandover Resort and was the 2017 Champion of the Palmetto Classic. Kayla is currently ranked 28th on the Bell National Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She finished in T13 at the Orange Whip Classic and is currently T26 on the Junior Challenge Points Standings.  Caroline was ranked T64 on the Bell National Order of Merit for the 2017 season. She had 2 first place finishes last season at the MAPGA Kingsmill Championship Junior Invitational and the PKBGT Tar Heel Classic at UNC Chapel Hill Finley GC. Each player looks to continue their success at the Palmetto Classic!

The Prep Preview Series features a field of 30 players from 5 different states.  Featured in the Prep Preview Series are Kayleigh Reinke (Rock Hill, SC 2021), Layla Meric (Wesley Chapel, NC 2021) and Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021). Kayleigh is currently ranked T32 on the Prep Preview Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She finished in T11 at the Orange Whip Classic at Clemson in the Prep Preview Division. Layla is currently ranked 8th on the Prep Preview Order of Merit, and finished 1op-10 at the PKBGT Tournament of Champions. Grace is currently ranked 2nd on the Prep Preview Order of Merit, and finished runner-up at the PKBGT Tournament of Champions. Each player looks to continue their success at the Palmetto Classic!

The Palmetto Classic will take place on Saturday and Sunday the 3-4 of March beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday and 10:00 AM on Sunday, weather permitting.  As always, we look forward to a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
