Update: Rocket Tour Players Championship at University of Georgia

The PKBGT returned to action on February 17th with the Rocket Tour Players Championship at UGA in Athens, GA. The event features 65 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They will tackle the course at 5,997 yards in the Bell National and Prep Preview divisions and at 5,186 yards in the Futures National division.Pine Needles Lodge & GC

After round 1 of the Rocket Tour Players Championship, Skylar Thompson (Buford, GA  2018) leads the Bell National Series with a posted score of 73, 1 over par. Only strokes behind the lead in a tie for second is Sara Im (Duluth, GA 2023) and Megan Furtney (South Elggin, IL 2019) with a first round score of 75, and sitting in fourth after a first round score of 77 is Ryan Elizabeth Bender (Louisville, KY 2018). Currently in three way tie for fifth place with scores of 78 is Ainsley Cowart (Winston, GA 2019), Loraile Cowart (Winston, GA 2021), and Meher Mankikar (Bridgewater, NJ 2020). 

Iris Cao (Duluth, GA 2022) leads the Prep Preview Series after round 1 with a score of 77. Just 1 stroke behind the leader is Chloe Holder with a first round score of 78. Currently in third place is Kate Song (Johns Creek, GA 2021) with a score of 82. Madeline Ananthasane (Auburn, GA 2020)  is currently in fourth place with a score of 85 and sitting in three way tie for fifth place is Sharon Mun (Duluth, GA 2021), Katelyn Lee (Easley, SC 2020), and Sarah Hsu (Buford, GA 2019) with a score of 86.

Hailey Han (Duluth, GA 2025)  leads the Futures National Series after round 1 with six over par 78. Just 1 strokes behind the leader is Morgan Ellison (Peachtree City, GA 2021) with a score of 79. Currently in third place is Averi Kline (Suwanee, GA 2022) with a score of 81. Reagan Southerland (Atlanta, GA 2023) and Noelia Adkins (Bristol, TN 2021) are currently tie for fourth place with a score of 86.

Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in the Bell National, Prep Preview, and Futures National Series of the Rocket Tour Players Championship at University of Georgia Golf Course.

The Rocket Tour Players Championship is the fourth tournament of the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge presented by the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. The Challenge will consist of 7 events between January 20 – March 10, 2018 and be operated by the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour. The first 6 pre-qualifying events will be open to any PKBGT member and will qualify PKBGT Bell National players for the Junior Challenge Qualifier on March 24-25, 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point. The champion of the qualifier will receive the sponsor exemption* (qualifying player must have a USGA handicap index of 3.7 or better to be granted the exemption).
