Preview: Orange Whip Classic at The Walker Course at Clemson

The PKBGT returns to action February 10-11, 2018 with the Orange Whip Classic at The Walker Course at Clemson in Clemson, SC.  The event will feature 73 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They will tackle the course at 5,934 yards in the Bell National and Prep Preview divisions and at 5,134 yards in the Futures National division.Pine Needles Lodge & GC

The Orange Whip Classic is the third tournament of the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge presented by the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. The Challenge will consist of 7 events between January 20 – March 10, 2018 and be operated by the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour. The first 6 pre-qualifying events will be open to any PKBGT member and will qualify PKBGT Bell National players for the Junior Challenge Qualifier on March 24-25, 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point. The champion of the qualifier will receive the sponsor exemption* (qualifying player must have a USGA handicap index of 3.7 or better to be granted the exemption). The Bell National Series features a strong field of 30 players from 8 different states.  Featured in the Bell National Series are Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021), Grace Jones (Hayesville, NC 2020) and Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018). Katherine is currently ranked 1st on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season.  She finished runner-up at the PKB Foundation Classic and is currently T3 on the Junior Challenge Points Standings.  Grace is currently ranked 9th on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She finished T5 in the Eagle Classic and is currently T3 on the Junior Challenge Points Standings.  Riley is currently ranked 7th on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She finished T12 at the PKB Foundation Classic and is currently ranked T17 on the Junior Challenge Points Standings. Each player looks to continue their success this weekend at the Orange Whip Classic!

The Prep Preview Series features a field of 33 players from 6 different states.  Featured in the Prep Preview Series are Hannah Nall (Cleveland, Tn 2022) and Karlee Vardas (Lexington, SC 2021). Hannah is currently ranked 84th on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She finished T25 at the PKB Tournament of Champions and finished in 4th place at the 2017 Tiger Classic at Clemson in the Futures National Division.  Karlee finished runner-up at the 2017 Tiger Classic at Clemson in the Futures National Division. Each player looks to continue their success this weekend at the Orange Whip Classic!

The Futures National Series features 21 players from 4 different states. Featured in the Futures National Series are Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022), Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023) and Mattie Padgett (Seneca, SC 2023). Annabelle is currently ranked 16th on the Futures National Order of Merit. She also finished T4 at the PKB Foundation Classic. Macy is currently ranked 4th on the Futures National Order of Merit, and she finished 10th at the PKB Foundation Classic and T14 at the PKB Junior. Mattie finished the 2017 season ranked 3rd on the Futures SC Order of Merit, and she finished top-10 in four PKB SC Regional tournaments. Each player looks to continue their success this weekend at the Orange Whip Classic!

The Orange Whip Classic will take place on Saturday and Sunday the 10-11 of February beginning at 9:30am both days, weather permitting.  As always, we look forward to a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
