The MA One-Day Series included 7 One-Day tournaments in the Middle Atlantic region and the two-day Series Finale played last week. With one remaining event next weekend, these events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.
One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Pendleton Golf Club featured a field of 41 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.
The Prep Division came down to an exhilarating finish with a three-way tie for 1st place. Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021), Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) and Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020) all finished 18 holes with a score of 72 (E) forcing a one-hole playoff on the 9th hole to determine the winner. Walsh came out on top, sinking a clutch ten foot par putt in the playoff to be crowned our Prep Division Champion! Rathbone finished in 2nd place and Coffren finished in 3rd place after each bogeyed the playoff hole. Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023) rounded out the top-4 with a 74 (+2).
The Champion of the Futures Series is Catherine Qiu (Great Falls, VA 2024) with a score of 78 (+6). Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024) finished runner-up with a score of 80 (+8). In 3rd place with a score of 81 (+9) is Shelby Herbert (Charlotte Hall, MD 2024). Finishing in a two-way tie for 4th is Madison Yom (Burke, VA 2024) and Katie Vu (Fairfax Station, VA 2024) with scores of 82 (+10).
The Champion of the Discovery Series is Madison Lehr (Mechanicsville, VA 2024) with a score of 1-under par, 35. There was a two-way tie for 2nd place. Makayla Grubb (Stafford, VA 2025) and Alina Ho (Great Falls, VA 2024) both finished with a score of 39 (+3). Makayla won the scorecard playoff finishing in 2nd place. Alina rounded out the leaderboard in 3rd place.
