Recap: NC One-Day Series at Pinehurst Resort No. 1

On Saturday, August 11th, the 2018 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the North Carolina One-Day Series at Pinehurst Resort No. 1.

The NC One-Day Series will include 11 One-Day tournaments in North Carolina, concluding with the two-day Series Finale at Colonial CC on September 15-16. These events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The North Carolina One-Day Series event at Pinehurst Resort No. 1 featured a full field of 72 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series is McKenzie Daffin (Fort Bragg, NC 2021) with a score of 75. Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021) finished runner-up with a score of 78. Finishing in 3rd place with a score of 78 is Maria Atwood (Holy Springs, NC 2022). Kelley Topiwala (Matthew, NC 2020) finished in 4th place with a score of 78.

The Champion of the Futures Series is Gabriela Cruz (High Point, NC 2021) with a score of 79. There was a two-way tie for 2nd place. Tyler Spriggs (Cary, NC 2023) and Grace Greene (Apex, NC 2019) both finished the day with a score of 80. Tyler won the scorecard playoff and finished runner-up. Grace finished in 3rd place. Hailey Miller (Rockingham, NC 2020) finished in 4th place with a score of 81.

The Champion of the Discovery Series is Jenna Kim (Raleigh, NC 2027) with a score of 36. Leah Edwards (Greensboro, NC 2025) finished runner-up with a score of 39. Finishing in 3rd place with a score of 39 is Gracie Song (Waxhaw, NC 2026).

The PKBGT NC One-Day Series is back in action Saturday, August 25 for the NC One-Day Series event at Maple Chase G&CC. There is still time to register! We look forward to a great event!
