Update: Jones Leads After Round 1 of the PKBGT Eagle Classic

The PKBGT returned to action on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with the PKBGT Eagle Classic at Georgia Southern University GC. Pine Needles Lodge & GCThe event features 15 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They will tackle the course at 5,927 yards in the Bell National Series.

The Eagle Classic is the first tournament of the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge presented by the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. The Challenge will consist of 7 events between January 20 – March 10, 2018 and be operated by the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour. The first 6 pre-qualifying events will be open to any PKBGT member and will qualify players for the Junior Challenge Qualifier on March 24-25, 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point. The champion of the Junior Challenge Qualifier qualifier will receive the sponsor exemption* (qualifying player must have a USGA handicap index of 3.7 or better to be granted the exemption).

Grace Jones (Hayesville, NC 2020) leads after round 1 of the PKBGT Eagle Classic at Georgia Southern University GC. Grace finished round 1 with a score of 5-over par, 77. Just 1 stroke behind the lead is Ainsley Cowart (Winston, GA 2019) with a first round score of 78. Currently tied for third place are Ryan Bender (Louisville, KY 2018) and Thienna Huynh (Lilburn, GA 2022). Both players finished round 1 with a score of 80. There are currently 4 players in a tie for fifth place: Iris Cao (Duluth, GA 2022), Anna Grace Brock (Greenwood, SC 2019), Loralie Cowart (Winston, GA 2021), and Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019). They all finished  round 1 with a score of 84. We look forward to an exciting finish for round 2!

Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers of the PKBGT Eagle Classic at Georgia Southern University GC!

This is a pre-qualifier for the LPGA Symetra Tour Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge. All players will earn points towards qualification to the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge Qualifier, with the ultimate winner of this event qualifying for the LPGA Symetra Tour’s Self Regional Women’s Health Classic in March 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point in Greenwood, South Carolina.  Learn more about the LPGA Symetra Tour Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
