Recap: A. Cowart Wins PKBGT Eagle Classic at Georgia Southern University GC

The PKBGT returned to action on January 20-21, 2018 with the PKBGT Eagle Classic at Georgia Southern GC. Pine Needles Lodge & GCThe event features 15 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They will tackle the course at 5,927 yards in the Bell National Series.

The Eagle Classic is the first tournament of the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge presented by the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. The Challenge will consist of 7 events between January 20 – March 10, 2018 and be operated by the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour. The first 6 pre-qualifying events will be open to any PKBGT member and will qualify players for the Junior Challenge Qualifier on March 24-25, 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point. The champion of the Junior Challenge Qualifier qualifier will receive the sponsor exemption* (qualifying player must have a USGA handicap index of 3.7 or better to be granted the exemption).

The Champion of the Bell National Division was Ainsley Cowart (Winston, GA 2019). Ainsley finished the weekend with a two day total of 78-79-157. Finishing runner-up was Thienna Huynh (Lilburn, GA 2022), who finished the weekend with a score of 80-78-158. In a tie for third place was Anna Grace Brock (Greenwood, SC 2019) and Ryan Bender (Louisville, KY 2018). Both players finished the weekend with a two day total of 160. Finishing in a tie for fourth place was Loralie Cowart (Winston, GA 2021) and Grace Jones (Hayesville, NC 2020). Both players finished the weekend with a two day total of 162.

The PKBGT returns to action January 27-28, 2018 at the PKB Foundation Classic at the Country Club of North Carolina (Cardinal) in Pinehurst, NC. This is the second pre-qualifier tournament of the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge presented by the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation. We look forward to a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
