Preview: Peggy Kirk Bell Junior at Pine Needles

Pine Needles Lodge & GCThe PKBGT returns to action on December 28-29, 2017 with the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior at Pine Needles Lodge & GC.  The event will feature 76 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country, who will tackle the classic Donald Ross course at 5,800 yards in the Bell National division and 5,100 yards in the Futures National division.

Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, the host of the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior, was also host to the US Women’s Open in 1996, 2001, and 2007.  The strong history of women’s golf at Pine Needles combined with a championship-level course makes it the ideal location for the further development of the game and the unofficial home of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour.

The Bell National Series features a strong field of 43 players from 9 different states.  Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, NC 2020) is currently ranked 10th on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season.  She was also the champion of the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Junior at Pine Needles Lodge & GC.  Another player featured in the Bell National Series is Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022). Maria is currently ranked 21st on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She was also the champion of the 2017 Futures National Order of Merit.  Also in the Bell National Series this week is Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019). Rebecca is currently ranked 4th on the Bell Series Order of Merit for the 2018 season. She also finished in 4th place at the 2017 PKBGT Tournament of Champions earlier this month. Each player looks to continue their success at the 2017 PKB Junior at Pine Needles Lodge & GC.

The Futures National Series features 33 players from 6 different states. Featured in the Futures National Series are Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023), Laney Wessels (Sophia, NC 2021) and D’yan Robinson (Richmond, VA 2022).  Macy finished the 2017 season ranked T73 in the Futures National Order of Merit, and she had 10 top-10 finishes during her 2017 season with the PKBGT. Laney finished the 2017 season ranked 53rd in the Futures National Order of Merit, and she finished T13 at the 2017 PKBGT Tournament of Champions earlier this month. D’yan finished the 2017 season ranked T137 on the Futures National Order of Merit, and she also had 5 top-10 finishes with the PKBGT in 2017. Each player looks to continue their success at the 2017 PKB Junior at Pine Needles Lodge & GC.

The PKB Junior at Pine Needles Lodge & GC will take place on Thursday and Friday the 28-29 of December with 10:00am shotgun starts on both days.  As always, we look forward to a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
