Preview: Central Florida One-Day Series at Redtail Golf Club

On Saturday, April 28, the 2018 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Central Florida One-Day Series at Redtail Golf Club.  The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour (PKBGT) is excited to be working in partnership with Insurance Office of America as the presenting sponsor of the new developmental series for junior girl golfers in Central Florida.

The new series is an addition to the 35 developmental tournaments PKBGT runs across the east coast. These events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The Central Florida One-Day Series at Redtail GC features a field of 18 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Central Florida One-Day Series at Redtail GC brings together players from around Central Florida. The field features 2 Prep Series players, 9 Futures Series players, and 7 Discovery Series players.

Featured in the Prep Series are Gabrielle Perlstein (Lake Mary, FL 2020) and Nicole Wilkes (Lake Mary, FL 2021). Gabrielle finished in 1st place at the inaugural Central Florida One-Day event at Alaqua CC last month.

Featured in the Futures Series are Kelly Yan (Beijing, China 2023), Miya Okuda (Winter Park, FL) and Lauren Perry (New Smyrna Beach, FL 2020). Kelly finished in 1st place at the CF One-Day event at Alaqua CC. Miya finished in 2nd place at the Alaqua tournament, and Lauren finished in 3rd place.

Featured in the Discovery Series are McKenna Murphy (Sanford, FL 2025), Adriana Pagån (Oviedo, FL 2026) and Madison Dusenbury (Deland, FL 2028). McKenna finished in 1st place at the CF One-Day event at Alaqua CC. Adriana finished in 4th place, and Madison finished in 6th place at the Alaqua CC event.

Awards will be presented to the top-4 finishers in the Prep and Futures Series, and the top-3 finishers in the Discovery Series. We look forward to a great event!

The PKBGT Central Florida One-Day Series debuted Saturday, March 31st at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, FL and ends Saturday, June 9th at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL. The point leaders of the five-day series will be awarded and ranked through the PKBGT Storie Apparel Order of Merit. In addition, IOA will grant a sponsor’s exemption into the Symetra Tour’s 2018 IOA Golf Classic to one PKBGT member. That event will be contested September 28-30, 2018 at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, FL. More details on how members will be able to qualify will be released this spring.
