Recap: PKBGT/CGA Vicki DiSantis Qualifier at Pinewood CC

The PKBGT season is in full swing with our next tour stop at Pinewood CC in Asheboro, NC with the PKBGT/CGA Vicki DiSantis Qualifier.  On March 30, 2018 the PKBGT had a field of 41 girls tackle the course at 5,802 yards in the Preview division. This tournament is one of two qualifiers. The top-15 finishers and ties will qualify for spots in the 2018 CGA Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship, May 12-13, at Pine Island CC in Charlotte, NC.

The Champion of the PKBGT/CGA Vicki DiSantis Qualifier at Pinewood CC is  Bailey Twiford (Coinjock, NC 2019) with a score of 77. Just 2 strokes behind the leader with a score of 79 and winning a scorecard playoff between three players is Becca Connolly (Winston-Salem, NC 2020), in 3rd place is Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022) with a score of 79 and Lauren Martin (Mooresville, NC 2020) finished in 4th place with a score of 79. Finishing in 5th place with a score of  80 is Katelyn Kenthack (Pinehurst, NC 2020).

About the Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship

The Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship began in 2006 and is named in honor of long-time Carolinas junior girls’ golf supporter Vicki DiSantis. Vicki DiSantis is currently a Carolinas Golf Association Executive Committee member, USGA Girls’ Junior Committee member, past president of the North Carolina Women’s Golf Association and is a past Junior Girls’ Director of the (now-dissolved) Carolinas Women’s Golf Association. The Vicki DiSantis Girls’ Championship has become one of the most prestigious girls’ championships in the Carolinas, annually drawing top-ranked players from North and South Carolina. The championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play in one division. Entry is open to any female amateur golfer, aged 12-18 as of May 13, 2018, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.3.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
