Update: Gate City Classic at Forest Oaks CC

On June 30th, 2018 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Gate City Classic at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The event featured a field of 43 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. They will tackle the course at 5,727 yards in the Prep Division and 5,007 yards in the Futures Division.

Leading the Prep Division after Round 1 Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) and Victoria Ladd (Greensboro, NC 2019) with a scores of 74. Harper Shepherd (Greensboro, NC 2021) currently sits in3rd place with a score of 75. Currently tied in 4th place with a score of 76 is Mara Hirtle (Pinehurst, NC 2020) and Rebecca Sun (Virginia Beach, VA 2022).

Leading the Futures Division after Round 1 is Heather Appleson (Wake Forest, NC 2023) with a score of 1 under par 71. Regan Clifford (Mount Pleasant, SC 2020) currently sits in 2nd place with a score of even par 72. Currently in a 4 way tie for 3rd place with a scores of 76 is  Riya Modak (Concord, NC 2021), Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023), Bethany Welch (Matthews, NC 2023) and AnPhi Le (Frederick, MD 2022).

It should be an exciting finish for round 2! Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in each division following play.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 500 members in 2016 and  over 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
