Update: Kuehn, Jonely lead after Round 1 of Tournament of Champions presented by Golf Pride

Steady: the key word to describe Rachel Kuehn’s (Class of 2019) 3 under round of 69 to take the lead after round 1 of the 2017 Tournament of Champions presented by Golf Pride. The event is being held at Pinehurst #8, host of the 2014 North and South Women’s Amateur and features top performers from the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girl’s Golf Tour, the nations largest “girl’s only” golf tour.

An Asheville, NC native, Kuehn made 4 birdies and just one bogey in her Saturday round with a 33 (-3) on her front nine. “It was all about hitting fairways and greens, I think I hit every fairway and 17 greens so it was a really consistent round and pretty boring,” she said. “A few putts went in here and there, a few things went my way and I got pretty lucky today, I’ll take it!”

Jennifer Cleary (Wilmington, DE 2020) follows Kuehn by 3 after a steady even par round of 72. Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2019) and Anna Morgan (Spartanburg, SC 2019) sit at +2 (T3) and Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) and 2017 Bell Order of Merit winner Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) follow at +3 (T5).

In the Prep Division, Ashburn, VA native Hannah Jonely (2020) posted a solid round of 75 to lead by 2 over Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020). Following Jonely and Chen in a tie for 3rd are Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021) and Loralie Cowart (Winston, GA 2021) (81).

A crowded leaderboard in both divisions will make for an exciting Sunday at Pinehurst’s Centennial #8. Follow the action through hole-by-hole live scoring in the final round of the 2017 PKBGT Tournament of Champions presented by Golf Pride.
