Recap: Kuehn, Jonely Win 2017 PKBGT Tournament of Champions presented by Golf Pride Grips

We anticipated an exciting finish to the Tournament of Champions today and our players did not disappoint us!
Pinehurst No. 8

On Sunday, December 3rd, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the 2017 Tournament of Champions presented by Golf Pride at Pinehurst’s centennial #8. This exclusive, limited-field PKBGT Championship featured top performers from the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girl’s Golf Tour, the nations largest “girl’s only” golf tour.

In the Bell Division, Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) followed up her first round of 69 with a 4 over 76 to win by one shot over 2017 PKBGT Bell Order of Merit winner Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021). Kuehn reached the par 5 hole 17 in 2 shots and 2 putted for birdie to tie for the lead with Sambach heading into 18. After Sambach bogeyed the final hole, Kuehne hit the green in regulation and made a 15 foot par save to take home 1st place. Sambach had rounds of 75-71-146 with 6 birdies in her final round.

In the Prep Division, Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020) shot rounds of 75-80-155 to win by 2 strokes over Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021). Hannah, who will be participating for Team Middle Atlantic in the inaugural Linville Cup this January. Holcomb, a freshman from Wilmington, NC fired a solid round of 78 to sit alone in 2nd.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
