Recap: Maryland Classic at Laytonsville GC

On June 2-3, 2018 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Maryland Classic at Laytonsville GC in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The event featured a field of 45 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. The weather shortened the tournament to one round due to unplayable course conditions.

There was a five-way tie for 1st place in the Bell National Division. All players finished round 1 with a score of 77. One playoff hole was completed before the course became unplayable. Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020), Johnna Parlett (Dunkirk, MD 2019), and Isabel Bae (Bristow, VA 2021) all pared the hole and Jacqueline Cherry (Elliott City, MD 2018) and Kaylin Yeoh (Potomac, MD 2021) both bogied the hole. A scorecard playoff determined the Champion of the 3 players who made par, as all other playoff options were exhausted. The Champion of the Bell National Division is Elizabeth Coffren.  Johnna Parlett finished runner-up. Isabel Bae finished in 3rd place. Finishing in 4th place is Kaylin Yeoh. Finishing in 5th place is Jacqueline Cherry.
