Recap: Sambach Wins 2017 PKBGT Invitational at Grandover Resort (East Course)

On Monday, November 13, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the 2017 PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). The culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments has finally brought us to the PKBGT’s most prestigious event of the year–the 2017 Invitational. The field for this year’s event featured 72 players from 14 different states making it one of the most diverse and top ranked fields in PKBGT history. Players earned their spot to the Invitational by finishing at the top of the PKBGT Orders of Merit, winning their state championship, playing in Invitational qualifiers, or earning an at-large bid.

Grandover Resort (East)The Champion of the 2017 PKBGT INVITATIONAL is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021)! Amanda finished the third and final round with a score of 1-under par, 71 and a 54 hole score of 76-74-71-221 with 5 birdies accumulated over the three days.

Finishing in second place by three strokes was the 2016 Bell Series Order of Merit Champion, Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018). Emily finished the weekend with a 54 hole score of 77-70-77-224. Her day 2 round of 70 was the low round of the entire tournament. Finishing in third place was Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) who lead the tournament after round 1. She finished the weekend with a 54 hole score of 73-75-79-227. Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019) placed fourth with a 54 hole score of 79-78-72-229. Kate Owens (Suwanee, GA 2018) finished in fifth place with a 54 hole score of 75-77-78-230. There was a two-way tie for sixth place. Anna Morgan (Spartanburg, SC 2019) and Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) both finished the tournament with 54 hole totals of 231.

The top 5 finishers will also receive an invitation to the PKBGT Tournament of Champions at Pinehurst No. 8 in December. Congratulations!
