Update: North Carolina Classic at Sapona Ridge Country Club

The PKBGT returned to action on March 24th with the North Carolina Classic in Lexington, NC. The event features 60 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They tackled the course at 5,750 yards in the Prep division and at 5,200 yards in the Futures National division.

Leading the Prep Series after round 1 of the North Carolina Classic at Sapona Ridge Country Club is Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2020) with a posted score of 77. Just 4 strokes behind the lead in second place is Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) with a score of 81. Currently in a tie for third place are Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) and Kerington Lamb (Easley, SC 2018) with a score of 82. Currently in fifth place with a score of 83 is Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018).

Due to inclement weather, the Futures National Division was shortened to 9 holes for round 1. Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022) leads the Futures National Division with a posted score of three over par, 38. Just one stroke behind the second place is Hannah Lydic (Ocean View, DE 2022). Sitting in third place after a first round score of 40 is Cori Langford (Blythewood, SC 2020). Currently in fourth place with scores of 42 is Kalina Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2021). In a 4-way tie for fifth place are Camryn Lamp (Conover, NC 2021), Averi Cline (Suwanee, GA 2022), McKenzie Daffin (Fort Bragg, NC 2021) and Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023) all with a score of 43.

Round 2 tee times will begin at 8:30 AM, weather permitting. We look forward to an exciting finish for round 2!

Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in the Prep and Futures National Division of the North Carolina Classic at Sapona Ridge Country Club.
