Preview: Tiger Classic at Clemson University

The PKBGT returns to action on February 25-26 on the campus of Clemson University for the 2017 Tiger Classic.  This will be the fifth playing of the Tiger Classic at the Walker Course, home of the Clemson Women’s and Men’s golf team. The Walker Course is a great course for this two day event, with 83 players in the three divisions.

This event is the fourth event in the  LPGA Symetra Tour’s Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge. This challenge is composed of 6 events where Bell and Prep players are awarded points based on their finish in those fields. The Top-29  players, and one sponsors exemption, will then compete in the Junior Challenge Qualifier on April 1-2, 2017 at The Links at Stoney Point. The Challenge champion will receive a sponsor exemption into the Self Regional Women’s Health Classic on May 1-7 2017 at the Links at Stoney Point.

This year’s Bell Series field includes 30 players highlighted by 16 players in the Top 1000 nationally in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings, including 7 in the PKBGT Performance Index Top 25.   Some notable players include reigning Rocket Tour Players Championship Winner, Louise Yu (Duluth, GA 2017), Caroline Wrigley (Wexford, PA 2019), Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019).  Also in the field is one of two leaders in the LPGA Symetra Tour’s Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge, Michelle Harn (Charlotte, NC 2019).

The Prep Series field includes 24 players also competing for points in the Women’s Health Junior Challenge. In the field  are 7 players inside the Top 150 on the PKBGT Performance index. Some notable players are the PKBGT Tournament of Champions Prep Runner -Up, Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020), Hailey Pendleton (Waxhaw, NC 2020), and Mallory Fobes (East Bend, NC 2019). Also in the field is newcomer Paighton Masterson (Avon Lake, OH 2019).

The Futures Series looks to be an exciting event with many new faces to the PKBGT entered and primed to make a statement.  The field features 29 players from 4 states, including a few champions in the 2017 PKBGT Season. Some notable players include reigning Rocket Tour Players Futures Champion Hannah Nall (Cleveland, TN 2022), the Eagle Classic Winner, Sara Im (Duluth, GA 0223), and PKB Junior winner Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022) We look forward to a great event and welcome our new players to the PKBGT family!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
