Recap: Yu, Nall Win Rocket Tour Players Titles

Exciting finishes in both divisions was the story of the 2017 Rocket Tour Players Championship in Athens, Georgia.  With temperatures reaching in the 70s at the challenging University of Georgia Golf Course, one of the Top 10 collegiate courses in the country by Links Magazine.

This was the second event where the Bell field are playing for points to help qualify them for the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge in April! The Top-29 in the points race will receive a spot in the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge event. The winner of that event will get a spot in the LPGA Symetra Tour Women’s Health Classic in May!

In the Bell Series,  Louise Yu (Duluth, GA 2017) fires a 4 under, 68  today  to claim the title she played the last 15 holes of her round 6 under par and had 11 birdies for the weekend.  Her rounds of 77-68-145 were good enough for a 5 shot lead over Skylar Thompson (Buford, GA 2018).  Caroline Craig (Sautee Nacoochee, GA 2019) placed third 9 shots back of the winner.

 In the Futures Series, Hannah Nall (Cleveland, TN 2022) came from behind to claim the title.  Nall fired rounds of 83-78-161 for a 2 shot victory over Sara Im (Duluth, GA 2023) and (Loralie Cowart Winston, GA 2021).  Im finished with a 79 in today round to move up on the leader board.  Cowart shot a 82 today after holding the lead for day 1.

The PKBGT will return to action next weekend February 18-19, 2017 on the campus of Georgia Southern University Golf Course for the PKBGT Eagle Classic.  This will be the third event that you can qualify for the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
