Recap: Weinfurther, Lee, Cho Win MA Series Finale at Fawn Lake CC

On Sunday, October 1, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played final round of the Middle Atlantic Series Finale at Fawn Lake CC. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 45 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series was Rory Weinfurther (Midlothian, VA 2020). After following up her 4-over, 76, round yesterday with an even par round today ending with a two day total of 148. Just two strokes behind the champion, finishing in second place was Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020). She finished the tournament at 6-over par total, 76-74-150. Just 2 strokes behind her in a tie for third place was Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023) and Danielle Suh (Herndon, VA 2020) both with a two-day total of 152. Finishing in fifth place was Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) with a two-day total of 76-78-154.

In the Futures Series, Sue Lee (Lorton, VA 2022) claimed 1st place, finishing the weekend with a two-day total of 80-73-153. Finishing tied for 2nd place, with a two-day total score of 155 was Liza Lapeyre (New Orleans 2022) and Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020). In a tie for 4th place was Sydney Hackett (Ashburn, VA 2022) and Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022) who both finished with a two-day total of 158.

In the Discovery Series, a sudden death playoff determined the champion. Amelia Cho (Ashburn, VA 2024) claimed 1st place, winning the second hole of the playoff. She finished the weekend with a two-day total of 36-40-76. Runner-up in the Discovery Series was Emily Wang (Mclean, VA 2024) with a two-day total of 39-37-76. Finishing in third place with a two-day total of 44-39-83 was Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024).
