Recap: Smith, Daffin, and Ridenour Wins NC One-Day Series @ Pinehurst No. 9

On Saturday, August 26, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the North Carolina One-Day Series at Pinehurst No. 9The goal of the One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The goal of the One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 65 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series by 4 shots was Kayla Smith (Burlington, NC 2019) after posting a score of 75 for the day. Finishing in second place with a score of 79 was Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2022). Finishing in a tie for third place was Jaclyn Kenzel (Southern Pines, NC 2020) and Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018) both with a score of 80.

The Champion of the Futures Series was McKenzie Daffin (Fort Bragg, NC 2021) after firing a round of 78. Only 4 strokes behind, finishing in a tie for second was Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021) and Katelyn Kenthack (Pinehurst, NC 2020) both with a score of 82. Finishing in fourth place was Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) with a score of 83.

The Champion of the Discovery Series was Grace Ridenour (Cary, NC 2025), with a stellar nine hole score of even par, 36. Discovery Series runner-up was Ellen Yu (High Point, NC 2025), finishing the day with a nine hole score of 44. Finishing in third place in the Discovery Series was Sanaa Carter (Jacksonville, NC 2026).

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
