Recap: Holcomb,Mathews, Song Win NC One-Day Series at Mill Creek GC

On Friday, August 11, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the North Carolina One-Day Series at Mill Creek GCThe goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The goal of the One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 29 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Champion of the Prep Series by 2 shots was Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021) after posting a score of 83 for the day. In a tie for second place with a score of 85 was Carson Jenkins (Raleigh, NC 2019) and Cameron Wood (Waxhaw, NC 2017). In Fourth place with a score of 87 was Evin Flinchum (Summerfield, NC 2018).

The Champion of the Futures Series was Emily Mathews (Mebane, NC 2023) after firing a round of 80. Only 3 strokes behind, finishing in second was Kayla Dowell (Mebane, NC 2021) with a score of 83. Finishing in a tie for third place was Elizabeth Tart (Holly Springs, NC 2019) and Megan Morris (Cary, NC 2021) both with a score of 85.

The Champion of the Discovery Series was Gracie Song(Monroe, NC 2026), with a nine hole score of 39. Discovery Series runner-up was Madison Dial (High Point, NC 2025), finishing the day at nine hole score of 48.

We would also like to recognize that two of our Futures players, Elizabeth Tart (Holly Springs, NC 2019) and Chloe Pittman (Davidson, NC 2020)  made an eagle on the 2nd hole Par 5 today.  Way to go ladies!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
