Preview: NC One-Day Series @ Mill Creek GC

On Friday, August 11, the 2017 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Mill Creek GC. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 29 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

The Prep Series field features Halynn Lee (Cary, NC 2021), Grace Holcomb (Wilmington, NC 2021), and Mackensi Hall (Graham, NC 2018). Lee is coming into the tournament after placing T5 at the 2017 Tour Championship at Salem Glen CC this past weekend. Holcomb also had a good performance at the 2017 Tour Championship at Salem Glen CC, placing top-10 after three rounds of play. Hall is currently ranked T82 in the Prep Order of Merit – NC and is coming off of a 2nd place finish at the NC One-Day Series at Bermuda Run CC (West). They look to continue their success this weekend at Mill Creek GC.

Featured in Futures Series field is Laney Wessels (Sophia, NC 2021), Chloe Crane (Greensboro, NC 2020), and Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023). Wessels is currently ranked 11th in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and has placed top-10 in four of her last five PKB tournaments. Crane is currently ranked 4th in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and has placed top-10 her last four NC One-Day Series appearances. Pate is currently ranked 1st in the Futures Order of Merit – NC and has finished top-10 in her last five PKB tournaments. They look to continue their success this weekend at Mill Creek GC.

Featured in the 3-player Discovery Series are Madison Dial (High Point, NC 2025) and Brooke Tyler (Summerfield, NC 2024). Dial is currently ranked 1st in the Discovery Order of Merit – NC and has finished in 1st place at her last two NC One-Day Series appearances. Tyler is currently ranked 3rd in the Discovery Order of Merit – NC and placed 1st at the NC One-Day Series at MacGregor Downs CC.

The One-Day Open Series at Mill Creek GC brings together players from North Carolina and Virginia. It should be a great event!
