Update: Hayes, Atwood Leading 2017 TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP @ Salem Glen CC

On Saturday, August 5, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the second round of the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Salem Glen CC in Clemmons, NC.  This event wraps up the 2017 PKBGT Championship season.

Leading the Bell Series after firing a commanding second round score of 3-under, 69 was Sasha Hayes (Winston Salem, NC 2020). Sitting four shots back in second place is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) after two rounds of 73. In third place is Nina Kouchi (Matthews, NC 2018) who had scores of 72-76 the first two days.  In a tie for fourth place is Anna McDonald (Hickory, NC 2019) and Skylar Sload (Ashburn, VA) both with a two day total of 149.

Leading the Futures Series is Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) after a stellar round of 70 on day two to pull head by one shot. Sitting just one back is Emma Chen with a two day total of 150. Sitting in third place is Lauren Denhard (Salisbury, NC 2019) with a two day total of 156. There is a three way tie for fourth place between Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021), Halynn Lee (Cary, NC 2021), and Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022).

Its will be an exciting finish on Sunday!

The TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2017 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. At the conclusion of the event, invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL will be extended to the top-30 players from the PKBGT 2015 Bell Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-15 players from the 2015 PKBGT Prep Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-five players from the 2015 PKBGT Futures Division Order of Merit Rankings, the top-three players on the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Series Order of Merit, the number one player on the 2015 Futures One-Day Division Order of Merit, and the top-30 finishers on the PKB Performance Index. The PKBGT will also recognize any state junior amateur champion at the Invitational. This tournament will bring together players from Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
