Preview: MA One-Day Series at Belmont Golf Course

On July 29, 2017 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour will play the Middle Atlantic One-Day Series event at Belmont Golf Course. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf.  The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.  The tournament features a field of 26 players and will include the Prep, Futures, and Discovery Series.

Featured in the Prep Series is Paris Fieldings (Suffolk, VA 2023) and Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021). Fieldings is currently ranked 4th on the Prep MA One-Day Series Order of Merit and has finished top-10 in her last three PKBGT events. Hankim is currently ranked 10th in the Prep MA One-Day Series Order of Merit and finished 4th at the MA One-Day Series at University of Maryland. They look to continue their success at the MA One-Day Series at Belmont Golf Course.

Featured in the Futures Series Andrea Grubb (Stafford, VA 2018), Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022), and Julie Shin (Brambleton, VA 2022).  Andrea is currently ranked 20th on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished top-10 at her last two MA One-Day Series events.  Katie is currently ranked 3rd on the Futures National MA Order of Merit and finished 5th place at the Commonwealth Classic at Hidden Creek CC last week.  Julie is currently ranked 2nd on the Futures MA Series Order of Merit and finished 3rd at the Commonwealth Classic at Hidden Creek CC. They look to continue their success at the MA One-Day Series at Belmont Golf Course.

The Discovery Series features a field of seven players from the Virginia and Maryland.  They will play 9-holes for the title and awards will be presented to the top-2 players in the Series.

The PKBGT has partnered with the Middle Atlantic PGA and will host events in Virginia and Maryland.  The series will feature three divisions: Prep, Futures, and Discovery.  On the day of each of the Middle Atlantic Series events, players are welcome to attend our “Introduction to Tournament Golf” workshops.  The workshops are designed to promote and increase participation among middle and high school age developmental female golfers.  Topics covered at the workshops will include learning to become comfortable playing competitive golf, learning basic rules of golf, and building confidence on the course.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
