Recap: Petersen Takes the Title at the Eagle Classic

— Live Scoring —

Exciting finishes in both divisions was the story of the 2017 Eagle Classic in Statesboro, Georgia.  With temperatures reaching the mid  70s, sunny skies at the prestigious Georgia Southern Golf Course set the stage for many competitive rounds of golf. Natalie Petersen took advantage of her two shot lead from day one finishing in first place for the Bell Series, while Sara Im came from behind to rise victorious for the Future Series.

This was the third event where the Bell field was playing for points to help qualify them for the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge in April! The Top-29 in the points race will receive a spot in the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge event. The winner of that event will get a spot in the LPGA Symetra Tour Women’s Health Classic in May!

In the Bell Series, Natalie Petersen maintained her momentum from round one posting a second round score of 73. She placed first in the division with a two day total of 77-73-150. Not far off the leader was runner-up Michelle Harn. She posted a second round score of 75 giving her a two day total of 80-75-155. With a two-way tie for third, Ainsley Cowart jumped out on top with her second round score of 77, which meant Anna Grace Brock would place fourth posting 80 on the day. Rounding up fifth place was Gaby Martinez who shot 82.

In the Futures Series, we had a come from behind victory as Sara Im posted an impressive second round score of 77. Her two day total of 81-77-158 was just enough to slide by day one leader Angelique Seymour. Seymour, who also played well, placed second with a two day total of 79-81-160. Loralie Cowart followed closely giving her the third place spot with a 84-79-163. In fourth place was Erica Boyd with 87-83-170 and sliding into fifth place was Victory Lee with a 84-87-171.

The PKBGT will return to action next weekend February 25-26, 2017 at The Walker Course at Clemson University  for the PKBGT Tiger Classic.  This will be the fourth event that you can qualify for the Women’s Health Jr. Challenge.
