Update: Cornelius, Jonely Leading after Round 1 Commonwealth Classic @ Hidden Creek CC

On Monday, July 17, the PKBGT played round 1 of the 2017 Commonwealth Classic at Hidden Creek Country Club.  The event featured a field of 26 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour in the country.  There are five different states represented in the tournament.

Leading the Bell Series after round 1 is Jordan Cornelius (Bethesda, MD 2018) with a score of one over par, 73. Only one shot back in second place is Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018) with two over par, 74. In a tie for third place is Jacqueline Cherry (Ellicott City, MD) and Natalie Welsh (Valencia, PA 2018) both with a round one score of 3 over par, 75.

Leading the Futures Series after round 1 is Hannah Jonely (Ashburn, VA 2020) with a round one score of over over par, 73. In a tie for second is Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) and Emma Chen (Derwood, MD 2022) both only three shots back with a score of 76. In fourth place is Mary Waclawski (Vienna, VA 2019) with a score of 77.

Awards will be presented to the top-five players in each series.  We look forward to a great event!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
